Location-based surveys for real-world decisions

Ask the people who are actually there.

Create a question, choose a place — a street, a district, the whole town, or the world — and hear from people who are actually there, before you make a decision that affects them.

Live15 surveys live right now

You don't ask the internet. You ask a place.

From idea to live in a couple of minutes

The friction is deliberately on the person asking, never on the person answering.

Target

Draw the target

Drop a pin and a radius, trace a district by hand, or switch to global. PostGIS decides who counts as inside — down to the metre.

Questions

Write your questions

Single choice, multiple choice, a 1–5 scale, or short text. The first three come with the survey; add more for a credit each. Keep it answerable while waiting for a tram.

Reach

People in the area find it

Anyone inside the target sees it on ortwort, signs in, confirms their location once, and answers. You can still drop a link or QR code somewhere.

Results

Watch it fill up

Live counts and percentages. Answers show as coarse ~1.2 km map cells, never as points, and cells with under five answers stay hidden.

Questions worth asking a place

Before you make a local decision, ask the people it affects. ortwort is new — no borrowed logos on this page, no inflated numbers. Yours takes about two minutes to draw and write.

  • Would you visit a specialty coffee shop here at least once a week?

    Ravensburg · Marienplatz — r 250 m

A shop owner validating demand before signing a lease.

  • Should this street become car-free on Saturdays?

Konstanz · Paradies — district polygon

A council asking only the blocks the change touches.

  • Would you come to a night market here next month?

    Lindau · Insel — r 600 m

An organiser measuring interest before booking the square.

  • Would you use a bike-repair pop-up in this neighbourhood?

    Weingarten · Martin-Luther-Platz — r 400 m

Someone testing a local service idea before investing in it.

FAQ

No. Anyone can answer with just the location check — one response per device is enforced automatically. Signing in is optional and free (an email link, no password): it makes your answer count across devices instead of just one browser, and lets you appear on the participation leaderboard. Either way, location stays coarse-grained and is never stored as raw coordinates.

The browser reports coordinates with high accuracy. The server checks them against the target with PostGIS, rejects anything less accurate than 1 km, then throws the raw coordinates away and keeps only a coarse ~1.2 km cell and the country.

It's possible with effort. It's one response per device (or per account, if you sign in), we rate-limit per device and per network, and we cross-check GPS country against network country. We call results "indicative local sentiment", not a representative sample.

Only the creator pays. One-off credits pay to publish a survey; an optional Pro subscription adds result export and private results. Respondents are never paid, because payouts attract spoofing and wreck the data the creator is buying.

In the EU (Frankfurt). Location is treated as personal data: minimised, coarse-grained, and never stored as raw coordinates.

Three questions come with every survey. You can add more — a credit each — but if a survey needs a reward to get answered, it's already too long.
